In recent years, a typical haircare revolution has taken the beauty world by storm where beauty products went from the same ingredient for all to products that are customized as per the individual’s issues and needs. Freewill is one such company that promotes personalized haircare products.
What is the brand’s philosophy?
Freewill is focused on the individual’s uniqueness to help create suitable products based on one’s hair profile (types, issues, needs), lifestyle, and hair goals. With the use of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning, they claimed that their product has the power to solve one’s hair problems and fulfill all of one’s hair goals.
What are the ingredients in Freewill? Are they au naturel?
With the rising concern for the environment and personal health, the number of ecowarrior consumers increases, and so is the look-out for brands that embrace eco-friendly products, and products made from organic produce.
Freewill does not actually declare whether its products are organic-based. On the other hand, it states to provide access to natural and high-impact ingredients ranging from produce that comes from all over the world like Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Paraguay, and more.
My freewill custom formula ingredients
As per your hair assessment, Freewill created your hair care product according to your hair requirements, issues, and desires.
The custom formula ingredient for my haircare kit included— Apricot Extract from Germany, Argan Oil from Morocco, Hydrolyzed Keratin from the USA, Aloe-Vera extract from India.
Step by step review of the Freewill Haircare kit
1. Packaging
For a price of Rs.1650, the packaging does not speak posh but was quite simple instead. Personally, I would have loved if Freewill invested a few percent more of the 1.6k I spent on the packaging too without deteriorating the quality of my product. However, the brand certainly earn points from me by going plastic-free with the packaging/ wrapping (well except the bottle, which I guess, was necessary).
2. Personalization
This was definitely what got everyone on the edge of their seat, and asked me what strings I pulled to get my name on my haircare kit. Having the customer’s name on their customized haircare product is undoubtedly Freewill’s well-played strategy that is obviously satisfying and loved by many!
Having my name on my haircare kit was absolutely gratifying; I couldn’t help but show it off in my social media accounts right away!
3. The Colour and Smell
On opening the package, the pleasant smell greeted me first thing, while the vibrant color of the product caught my eyes. The smell lingered on my hair for days after using it.
If you’re one who likes a fruity smell, Freewill definitely wouldn’t let you down in that department.
Might sound a little weird but I think I have totally began to form the habit of taking in a whiff of my hair every now and then since Freewill.
4. The Shampoo
To be honest, the shampoo was a little runny for me, and the odds are I might just run out of shampoo when I’m only halfway down on the other products. Having said that, I have to admit that the shampoo does clean well.
5. The Conditioner
Freewill’s conditioner has the consistency of creamed butter, and I love that! However, while washing it off, I missed that silky feeling that I usually noticed with other conditioners.
6. The Hair Serum
As per the label, Freewill’s hair serum contains vitamin E and Argan oil which are known for their antioxidant properties. Vitamin E is known to treat hair loss and to keep hair shine while Argan oil hydrates and softens the hair. One thing I always look into serums is whether it is sticky or too oily or absorbent. Freewill’s hair serum is quiet the right texture for me especially since it’s stick-free and smells as good as the other two products.
7. Price
The haircare kit includes Shampoo( 250ml for Rs.950), Conditioner (150ml for Rs.950), and serum (30ml) altogether for a discount total of 1650/-. No price was written on the serum and is apparently not to be sold individually as it is a part of the combo. Personally, I think the price is a little too high for the general Indian market. I have observed that the customization and personalization is something everyone was down for but held back when they realized the price. If Freewill is set to target the local or general Indian population, a lower price of the product with the same quality might just help discover and gain more local customers.
My Take on Freewill’s Haircare Kit
While doing my hair assessment….
1. My main concern was massive hair fall
Of course, no one should really expect any product or brand to absolutely fix their hair loss problem, but mine was bad enough that I have strands after strands falling off with my every move, not including the ones that fall during hair wash. However, after using Freewill, I noticed lesser to no hair fall during work out wherein I had to consistently clear the mat of my strands earlier. Even though the massive hair fall during shower wasn’t fixed, it’s good to have lesser strands fall on your shoulder/ mat. I think Vitamin E did its job.
Nevertheless, I cannot say the same in the shine department. I don’t think it makes my hair duller but nor can I say it makes it shinier.
2. My goal was to achieve softer hair texture
One common ingredient I observed in all the 3 products of Freewill is Argan oil which is known to hydrate and soften the hair. This oil is a great moisturizer and can fight both dandruff and dry scalp while also protecting the hair against styling damage and keeps the hair frizz-free. Since I am a stranger to the hairstyling world, I can hardly say if it helps in fixing hair damage. But I do notice my hair feeling softer and bouncy since Freewill and I’m pretty hyped up about that because that’s exactly what I asked for during my hair assessment.
So, what’s my take on my customized Freewill haircare kit?
Personally, I think it delivered my desired results for me—lesser hair fall, and softer/ bouncier hair. My journey with Freewill was quite a jolly and exciting one. But I believe they can still do better with the product to help achieve brilliant hair goals with finer results.
